DIVISION 19 - Educational Displays

This division is intended for posters, table displays, club banners, and club educational booths. When planning to enter these areas, you must consider the following:

 

A. Educational Value
1. Is there one main idea?
2. Is information accurate?
3. Is message brief and clear?
4. Does it convey the importance of the message?

B. Design
1. Does it attract attention and hold viewer's interest?
2. Does it have one center of interest which each part supports?
3. Is color used effectively?
4. Is lettering easy to read?

 

C. Originality, Creativity and Neatness
1. Does the display show imagination, creative thought, and originality?
2. Is the general appearance neat, simple and orderly?

 

Posters and Charts may be entered one year only, and will be disqualified if entered a second year. Entries are due July 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 4-H Exhibit Building. Entries received after July 11th will receive ribbons only – no premiums. Limited to a total of four entries per exhibitor in Class A & B combined. Size may vary from minimum size of 14" x 22" to a maximum of 36" x 48". Entries may be made and entered by any 4-H Junior, Intermediate, or Senior member in any 4-H project in which they are enrolled. Entries may be stapled or tacked for displaying unless exhibitor attaches tabs for hanging. Club name, exhibitor name and age division (junior, intermediate, senior) of exhibitor MUST be on the back of each entry. Posters and charts are NOT three dimensional.

CLASS C - TABLE DISPLAYS

 

Enter at online entry center by July 6th or on form from Extension Office by July 7th. Entries received after July 7th will be on a space available basis and will receive ribbons only - NO PREMIUMS. See Division 19 for judging criteria requirements. Exhibits must be a minimum of 24" x 36", but no larger than a card table. Exhibitors must furnish their own card table. Your display material must be restricted to your card table. You may not use the wall or dividers. You will be asked to host or hostess in the information booth. If you do not fulfill your obligation your premium will be withheld. All entries must be in place by 5 p.m. Saturday before the Fair. Be sure to put an entry tag on your display to ensure receiving your premium.

CLASS D - EDUCATIONAL CLUB BOOTHSEnter at online entry center by July 6th or on form from Extension Office by July 7th. See Division 19 for judging criteria requirements. Leaders sign up in advance for booth by July 7th, in Extension Office. Entries received after July 7th will receive ribbons only - NO PREMIUMS. Clubs entering a club booth must provide 4-H'ers to Host or Hostess for 2 hours at the information booth. All entries must be in place by 5 p.m. Saturday before the Fair. Be sure to put an entry tag on your display to ensure receiving your premium.

CLASS E - CLUB BANNER - Can be entered on-line through July 6th or when due on July 11th in the 4H Exhibit Building. Entries are due July 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 4-H Exhibit Building. Each club may enter one banner representing their Club. The banner may be exhibited for premiums the first year only. If you would like to display your banner again in successive years it would be on a display basis only – no premium. Banner is to be made of fabric. Loops or seams must be part of banner for hanging. Banner dimensions and judging rules are available from the Extension office. Banners must be made by 4-H members.

DIVISION 20 - Primary Member Exhibits

a) Open to all kindergarten, first or second grade members enrolled in the Whatcom County

4-H program.

b) Primary 4-H members are not allowed to enter in any other 4-H exhibit area.

c) Primary 4-H participation ribbons will be awarded. No premiums.

 

CLASS A - PRIMARY STILL LIFE
Any article or display made or used as a part of your project activities. Maximum 2 entries per Primary member. Exhibits are entered Saturday before the Fair from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the 4-H Exhibit Building. Exhibits entered in this Class are not available for use in Class B "Show and Tell". Exhibits released Sunday after the Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
